Citi market outlook

Citi analysts changed their market outlook on the performance of each asset class for the 2nd quarter of 2011.

The overall outlook on equities has changed from neutral to negative, mainly reflecting the uncertainty regarding the future economic prospects after the support packages withdrawal taken by the government and monetary authorities.

Citi analysts are positive on Japanese and Eastern Europe equities only. As for  Japanese equities the key aspects that will likely play major role are their low relative valuations, the Japanese Yen that may weaken in the case of common intervention from central banks, the easing of monetary policy from Bank of Japan side and the quick response in the form of the government strategy.

Vice versa, Citi analysts changed their view on bonds from the original neutral position to positive one mainly due to uncertainties relating to subsequent short-term economic prospects.
